Journal #7- All Classes

Journal Entry # 7- 11/8/12

From what point of view is the story told from?  How does this point of view help contribute to the story?  How would it be different if it was told from another point of view?

  1. The point of view is told from the narrator's because in the story it was a 3rd person so it was saying "said violet" and "Klause said" and "said Sunny". It would be different because if it was told from Violet's point of view the stroy would have more things about her like she woukd say more things and there will be alot more "I" in the story than Violet.

  2. The story, "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate" is told from the protagonist's point of view, by Calpurnia. This helps the reader understand the main character better because she freely expresses her emotions, thoughts, and actions better that way. It would be different if it was told in a different point of view because then I wouldn't understand Callie's actions completely. Plus, you feel more connected and closer to the main character when the story is told in their point of view. Also, you get to see Callie and her grandfather's relationship blossom more closely and personally.

  3. The point of view in which my story is told from is an omniscient point of view. I say this because in the story, there isn't a specific person telling the story, nor is there a narrator. The story is always told in an all-knowing way. By this i mean that it would say "Halt thought to himself" or "Horace shrugged and walked off". It would never say I, Me, You, etc,nor would it say something like "It was a cold windy night, and the adventurers would soon face danger.", like a narrator would say. This contributes to the story because you get the advantage of knowing what everyone is doing, and not having to pay attention to 1 person. With the way this is done, 1 chapter can be about Halt and Horace doing something while the next is about Will doing something else that ties in. Without this point of view, this wouldn't happen. The story would be less interesting and reader grabbing, since the plot is made to alternate between people or characters in the story. Along with this, as I've said, you'd only be able to pay attention to 1 character, not all of them, since it would be from a different point of view.

  4. this story is told in 1st person by Molly the daughter and this point of view helps contribute it to the story by showing the emotion of the main character and how it effects her life more than anyone else's in this story, if this story was told in any other different way it would effect the plot by either not showing the full gratitude of the main character or not getting the point of the story for it to reflect back on to Molly the main character.

  5. The point of veiw that the story is told from is first person and is from the eyes of a ground troop in the army. this helps contribute to the story because it forces you to visualise all the carnage that happens on the battal feild during a fight.

  6. The point of view Matilda is from is 1st person. I know this because Matilda uses I. In First person the narrator uses I and it feels like you are seeing everything
