Think about what has
happened in your story so far. Based on
this information, describe why you
believe your author wrote this story.
What was he/she trying to tell the reader?
I believe the author wrote this story because she wanted to give readers an insight on what a farmer's daughter's life would be life back then on a farm. She entertains us with the life of a 12 year old girl and her struggles and her accomplishments, making connections with our lives today as well. She is trying to tell us that growing up and being different from everyone else is completely okay, and can be exciting. Most of the time, you can meet new people who are just like you, and form friendships that are amazing.
Based upon what I've read, i believe the author wrote this story to entertain people, and to show what action was like in the medieval ages. My story has a lot of action and humor in it, which keeps you hooked into the story, most likely what the author intended. Also, what i believe the author is trying to tell the reader is that you should always have trust in friends and the people around you. I say this because many times in the story, the main characters always fight side by side, and say things that show their trust. Some things that they've said a few pages ago was "Will and Halt were the only ones Horace trusted to sharpen his sword for him." and "I'm nervous because this time I'm not fighting with you." showing the trust and such that the author intended to show.
