Period 6: Entry 4

As you read tonight, identify at least 2 direct or indirect characteristics of a character in your book.  Set up your response in the following way:

1. Name of Character
2. Type of characterization
3. Quote that shows characterization
4. Word that you can use to describe your character
5. Rationale for chosing this quote

Ex.
1.  Laurie
2. Character's Actions
3. "filled his wagon with mud and pulled it through the kitchen"
4. troublesome
5. When Laurie pulled his wagon through the kitchen with mud, he is showing that he is a defiant young boy who causes a lot of trouble.  He should know better than to be walking through his mom's nice clean kitchen with mud. Laurie goes against the commonly known rule of no mud in the kitchen just to be a bad little boy.

  4. 1. Link
    2. Character's Actions
    3. "playing with the seat like a jerk. He was moving it forward and backward in the car"
    4. inconsiderate
    5. When Link moved his chair forward and backward repeatedly, there was someone behind him and the two passengers were causing a ruckus. This shows that Link is an impolite teenager who doesn't think about others when he does something. It is common etiquette if you are sitting in front of someone in a car to allow them to have room, and to not change the seat position all the time. Link is a jokester who likes to mess with people just so he can get a good laugh.

    1. Violet
2.Character's Reaction to other Character's Actions
    3. "she was reading things about how everything was getting toxic. She told me about how things were getting really bad in South America, but she didn't know how bad, because the news had been asked to be a little more positive......made her frightened to read about this kind of thing....how people hated us for what we did"
    4. Intelligent, knowledgeable, informed citizen
    5. When Violet is up to date with the news, such as being informed on how the world is becoming toxic, and the unfriendly zones in the world, she shows that she is a intelligent girl who likes to read and keep up with current news. People who read often, like to read the news and who are cultured tend to be very intelligent and sophisticated.
