Contradiction:
pg 5 “The story was that the three skeletons, gleaming with phosphorescent
light, danced over the small rock, screaming”
This
quote shows a contradiction because the island the narrator is going to work
on, is haunted. Most people with common
sense wouldn’t take a job somewhere where people have died, were eaten by
birds, and now haunt the area.
Memory moment-the main character,David,has had a memory moment by stopping to remember his mom when she died. pg.6 chapter 1
ReplyDeleteThis is a memory moment because he remembers to pretend to be talking to his mom and that he is doing this for her.
AHA moment-david had an AHA moment when he find the lips and doesn't know what it is.but then he uncovers the rest of the face and is like oooh it is a face.
contradicton-david doesn't run when every one else runs at an easter egg hunt.
Contradiction: pg. 9 "Where do you think you're going?" I kept my mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteThis quote shows a contradiction because Melinda was just humiliated by having the cliche high school tray dump during lunch. She ran out to get changed, but a teacher caught her skipping lunch and assuming she was up to no good. Students would usually explain to the teacher what happened, so that they could go change their clothes. Apparently, Melinda kept her mouth shut because since she is use to being invisible, she feels like no one cares about what you have to say. This resulted in a detention.
Again and Again: pg. 28 "I steal a pad of late passes from Hairwoman's desk"
This shows that Melinda is constantly late and is missing her homework since day 1 of highschool. She always is confronted by her teachers about skipping something or missing an assignment.
Tough Questions: pg. 21 and previous "She didn't bother to find out the truth-what kind of friend is that?"
This makes me think what the "truth" is and what has happened to Melinda before to make her change into a moody teenager. All of her previous friends seem to ignore Melinda, and it seems to be a gut feeling. Why is Melinda being ignored by previous acquaintances and what happened to Melinda to make her what she is now and to have her best friend ditch her about it?
